I love learning about neuroscience. Do you know any interesting facts that are not commonly known?
I have a solid background in the anatomy of the brain but I love learning new things. New findings or implementations of research. I'm really interested in neuropeptides and transmitters.
Are there any cool ways to "trick" your brain or make it do something cool?|||Optical Illusions work pretty well.
If you cut the Corpus Callosum, you think separately with your right and left brain. It makes it difficult to do anything.
Placebos trick the body by using the mind
Phineas Gauge had a metal rod shoot through his frontal lobe, destroying it, but it did not kill him.Instead, he grew temperamental, socially awkward, and unpredictable. The frontal lobe controls manners and things of that sort. That is part of the brain that makes us as "intelligent" as we are.
Drugs affect the mind by modifying the way our neurotransmitters fire. Cocaine, for instance, fits into the synapse and inhibits the reuptake of the neurotransmitter norepenephrine, which alters mood.
