What are the cool, liberal neighborhoods in Chicago near the cool bars and restaurants?

What area of town do the Cubs play? I see people in apartments just outside the stadium and it looks cool.

BQ: What are the cool lake towns people in Chicago go for the weekend or on vacation?|||There are plenty of (straight) bars in the neighborhood of Lakeview. The immediate area you are referring to is known as Wrigleyville, and it's a happening, lively area. You really only need to show up to find the bar that suits your style because they all different "personalities". There's everything from sports bars, to higher brow establishments. From what you describe in your post, it sounds like you will like The Hopleaf for sure (my personal fav as well). Jim Barleycorn is another popular one too.|||The Cubbies play in Lakeview, part of which is Boystown, and that's about the most liberal place you can find in the city. Chicago is on the lake so there's not a lot of need to get away to the lake for the weekend, but some people do go to Wisconsin or Michigan on the weekends for quiet. There are so many places that I couldn't even narrow it down for you.|||if you happen to be gay then yes the area where the cubs play is perfect for you as the other answer given already pointed out. There are a ton of gay bars right there
