How do I keep my room cool in the summer?

I have one of those window fans with the two fans one that could take in and one to take out air or both do in or out. I'm not really sure the best way to keep my room cool. It's a small room on the second floor.|||Hey this is how I do it:

1st- Make your fan take air out during the day and keep your room dark.

2nd- have another fan to circlate the air in your room also.

3rd- at night take only cooler air in if its really cool than keep your window just shut during the day that will help big time. otherwise just stick with 1%26amp;2 when nights are still too warm.|||Depends on how warm the outside temperature is, and weather or not you have central cooling that is running.

If the outside temp is lower than the inside temp, then you would want to have the fans blowing in. If you are using central cooling I would not have any windows open, You're better off just trying to cool yourself with a fan blowing directly on you, this will give you the feeling of being almost 10 degrees cooler...

You're best option would be to get a window A/C unit and installing that in the window. It could cool your room considerably. These run anywhere from about $150 on the cheap end to about $500 on the higher end.|||get light-blocking curtains to keep your room dark. find them in walmart. get your room cool at night by taking in the air. then close the window and keep it dark during the day.|||If your windows are east or west facing......... east windows should be covered in the morning and west windows covered in the afternoon and evening hours. This will block out the sunlight/heat. With a fan, in the cooler hours you should have it blowing inside, bringing in the cooler air, opposite for the afternoons. In the evenings, after the sun is down, bring in the cooler air.
