What to do to keep cool in a summer wedding?

My wedding is in january (that's smack bang in the middle of summer in Australia) and im worried ill over heat lol. My dress will probably make me quite hot (dont say get a cooler dress please!) any of you have any tips or things you wished you had to cool down?

My reception is air conditioned and im in a church for the ceremony so that should be cool. But im getting pictures taken in Sydney botanical gardens and ill be out in the sun.|||Make sure to take a bottle of water or 2 with you when you go to take photos. My sister got married on a very hot day in Jan in Melbourne. She took an esky around with her bridal party, with bottles of water and sandwiches. They also served chilled mineral water to the guests after the ceremony under some big trees (she got married in a garden). They also had a few umbrellas for guests to use as the mingled before and after the ceremony (it was a serious scorcher!).

Also remember to wear sunscreen- I went to a wedding where both the bride and her mother forgot and they both looked like lobsters in half of the photos- not a good look!

Choose your hairstyle carefully- an up-do would probably be more comfortable than having hair sitting against your face and neck.

Take some blotting papers and powder with you too so you don't get all sweaty and maybe some deoderant too.|||Probably the best thing to consider would be some sort of updo so your hair is off your neck.|||I saw this program and it was the bride wanted to have an outdoor wedding during a very hot time of the year, so her genius wedding planner made the pamphlets that you sit with during the ceremony into fans. They wrote stuff on the fans and then you could also use them to cool your guests off.

Good luck! Congrats!|||Could you get the pictures taken early in the morning or in the evening so it won't be as warm out? It is better to get the pictures taken when the sun is not too high up in the sky anyway since most people don't look as good in bright sunlight.|||I am having a summer wedding in Australia too so i have had to think this through as well

get some parasols for you and your bridesmaids to keep the sun off your face and make sure you have plenty of water. Try to keep in the shade as much as you can during the day. The botanic gardens in Sydney have a lot of big trees so that should provide the shade you need not to mention you might have the sea breeze on your side that day.

It will be important to consider the type of make up you use aswell as you will sweat and that could make your makeup run.

Don't forget deodorant!!! get your maid of honor to carry some in her bag plus tissues to dab your sweat.

get one of those mini fans (the little battery operated ones)

if you haven't chosen your shoes, wear open strappy ones and no stockings

keep a tube of moisturiser on you to prevent your skin from drying out to much
