How to make cool symbols with a keyboard?

I see other people making cool symbols by typing them, but I don't know how to do it. How do I make them, and what are some cool ones?|||There are lots and lots of ways to insert non-keyboard characters.

|||hold the Alt button down and press numbers on your number pad. like alt 3 makes a heart and theres so many different combinations aly and pressing 3 4 times gives you a clover .
