Why would cool air be blowing outside from the back of my window air conditioner?

I purchased a 10,200 BTU a/c unit last summer and seldom used and now I have it on and it sends cool air outside and is not cooling the 11 x 11' room it's installed in. My other window units expel hot air outside.|||only five possible reasons for a window unit to do that...1 bad compressor, burnt or locked up..2 bad capacitor for compressor, this helps compressor start and run...3 low on freon......4 bad thermostat, it lets the fan run but not the compressor...5 selector switch is not on high med or low cool but high med or low fan...|||seems that (in the best case scenario) that the compressor capacitor has lost it-$ 5.00-$15.00 , or the compressor has let go( get a new a/c not worth fixing). or another thing that i would look at is the temperature settings and make sure they are set right and that the controls are working properly.|||It may need to be checked for a leak and recharged. Is the compressor coming on? You may want to check the wiring and the capacitor. sometimes the compressor needs a good smack upside it, to get it going if it has been sitting up. make sure you have a good receptical and electrical breaker. most of these units want to be running on their own circuit without competing with the dishwasher or freezer.|||Close the vent
